ULAA Signed MOU With IE, Barrolle Of Trenton/Philadelphia

Bryan’s Road, Maryland (April 28, 2008):-The Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas, ULAA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IE and Barrolle Sports Associations of Trenton and Philadelphia for the hosting of this year’s Independence Day Celebration in Pennsylvania.

The Memorandum of Understanding which is the culmination of several months of consultation was signed on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Liberian Community Center of the Liberian Community Association of Central New Jersey and the Metropolitan Areas in Trenton, New Jersey.

ULAA’s National General Secretary, Isaac S. Zawolo, Jr signed on behalf of the Union while Messrs. D. Zeogar Wilson and Robert Mensah signed on behalf of Barrolle and IE respectively. Representing ULAA at the signing ceremony were Hon. Emmanuel Togba, National Treasurer, Mr. Shiwoh Kamara, President of the Liberian Association of Pennsylvania and Madam Tarlow Miller, President of the Liberian Community Associations of Central New Jersey.

In brief remarks at the ceremony, Secretary General Zawolo hailed the signing as a milestone and expressed the hope that ULAA will be able to win the cooperation of other organizations in ensuring the holding of one Independence Day Celebration. He commended the officials of IE and Barrolle for their contribution to their respective organizations and the Liberian diaspora in the US.

The National Administration of ULAA is therefore calling on ULAA chapters, county associations, and alumni associations, religious leaders to lend their support to this year’s celebration which will amongst others highlight the struggle for permanent residency for Liberians beneficiaries of the Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).
